When T first reached out, we started laughing about how similar our stories were. T + J both grew up in the Bay Area like my husband and I did, started dating just before leaving for college in the same year that we did, and spent our first few years doing long distance. He even went to SJSU and studied business like my husband, coincidentally also where I had studied for graduate school as well. Having run in many of the same social circles, we even realized we shared mutual friends! 9 years since they went on their first date, T knew he wanted to plan something special to propose to his girlfriend. When their trip to Italy was cancelled, and then their trip to Banff was cancelled too, he decided instead to plan a romantic local surprise getaway to Half Moon Bay. We chatted about how to make the proposal special, and planned a romantic set up complete with an Adventure Book he made. They came to the famous Ritz-Carlton (supposedly for dinner), and started down the coastal trail where he popped the question! Little did she know that the surprise didn't end there - all the tears started flowing when she saw all her loved ones surprise her after the proposal.
