When Michael contacted me a few months ago as he was planning a surprise trip + surprise proposal for his girlfriend, we threw around a few dates that might work. As the holidays drew closer, he had started to finalize plans for friends to pack a suitcase for her, drive her to the airport, and truly give her the trip of a lifetime from their hometown of Dallas, Texas. He asked again with the new dates, but I was so sad to say that I would be out of town for the holidays. But this man was not one to give up - a week later, he contacted me again, asking if there was any way we could make it work as he hadn't found any other photographers that he truly wanted to capture this special moment. Ok, I was flying in back from Italy on New Year's Day (which happened to be their anniversary), and would land in SFO at 3 PM. Sunset would be at 5 PM, so I'd have one hour to get somewhere. Half Moon Bay was just 20 minutes from the airport, so I told him that it might, might just work. I couldn't guarantee anything on the off chance that the flight was delayed and I couldn't make it, but it was the only date that worked. So we set for the date, I sent him my flight info, and lo and behold, we made it work. We caught the absolutely most perfect sunset, and it was the sweetest proposal for these two sweethearts. Congratulations M + S!!
